The term yoga is derived from the sanskrit word ‘Yujir Yoge’, meaning ‘to yoke’. Yoga is the union of body, breath and mind, a state of harmony at every level of our existence. It means uniting with the Self.
In this modern day, the essence of this sacred knowledge is reduced to contorting the body into unimaginable postures, labeling it as ‘Yoga’.
“Yoga is not just exercise and asanas. It is the emotional integration and spiritual elevation with a touch of the mystic element, which gives you a glimpse of something beyond all imagination.” Ravi Shankar
Lord Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita (2.50) elaborates, “yogah karmasu kaushalam”, meaning “Yoga is a skill in action”. Yoga is the skill to live life, manage the mind and deal with the emotions. It brings skill to a person’s actions and betters his communication. It is found that a person communicates more through his presence than his words.
